Over the past couple of years, the city of Los Angeles has become a fertile ground for all things Beckett. The latest addition to the growing list of events and performances takes place in September in the form of a newly devised piece based on Company and which has been developed over a number of years by performer Valerie McCann and Typewriters Anonymous.
Described as ‘an intimate solo performance of the 1979 novella,’ Devising it all for Company is an immersive installation which ‘invites the audience into a shared mind, where a decentered, refracted self pushes up against an unreliable reality’ in which ‘McCann engages ritualistic physical practices with precise choreographic scoring to attempt an improvised performance of word perfect text’.
The show will run at The Brewery from 1-5 September at 7:30 PM.
