In keeping with its commitment to promote new opportunities for emerging voices within Beckett studies, the Samuel Beckett Society is delighted to announce and endorse a new and innovative online seminar series which will be of interest to a broad audience. Puningly titled …but the cloud... the four-part interdisciplinary series will be organised and hosted by Eleanor Green and Swati Joshi, with each of its seminars linked thematically and broadly examining ‘greyness’ in all its manifestations in Beckett. Aimed primarily at providing a platform and forum for early research scholars, each ninety minute seminar will consist of four academic presentations with follow-up discussion, as well as reviews of any and all Beckett related output such as monographs, exhibitions, movies, TV and zines. There will also be space to accommodate general discussion and a sharing of information which might be helpful to its target audience within the discipline.
As the hosts outline: ‘this seminar series will engage in a sustained dialogue with participants on the material and semiotic elements of ‘natural’—ecological, normative, or perverse—grey forms, shaping the four sequential but interlocking themes of clouds, cold, shadows, and transitions’. A call for papers has been announced for the first seminar has been published and can be downloaded below. The seminar rubric is ‘Clouds’ and the deadline is 31 July.
