When asked by The Times in 1983 to set out his hopes for the coming year, Beckett replied by telegram with an economy worthy of his aesthetic:
RESOLUTIONS COLON ZERO STOP PERIOD HOPES COLON ZERO STOP BECKETT
By contrast, in 2026 we at the Samuel Beckett Society resolve to continue promoting his work and ideas, and hope the new year brings even more appreciation of his writing through new performances, new scholarship and an even greater shared enthusiasm.
