The Samuel Beckett Working Group (SBWG) of the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR) is proud to partner with the journal Samuel Beckett Today / Aujourd’hui on a forthcoming special issue dedicated to theme of Beckett and the Tragic.
The project emerged from the SBWG’s gathering at the 2024 IFTR conference held in Manila, where the group worked on “Samuel Beckett, Tragedy and Catastrophe: From the Modern Stage to Contemporary Performance.” While the roots of the project are in theatre and performance studies, the group hope that the seed will grow beyond those borders to reflect on the nexus “Beckett and the tragic” across genres and disciplines.
Abstracts are invited to be submitted in both English and French on the topics outlined in the attachment below.
Abstracts, accompanied by a biography, must reach the editorial committee by April 30 at sbwg.iftr@gmail.com. All queries should be sent to the same address.
