The latest issue of The Beckett Circle is now available online. This number, which will be the last in its current format, contains its usual mix of richly-illustrated reviews and essays relating to all things Beckett. Beckett’s biographer James Knowlson offers a new and fascinating insight into the life of the author’s wife Suzanne Déchevaux-Dumesnil; the moving winning entry in the Society’s essay competition for incarcerated persons is published in full; a comprehensive review is given of the enormously successful Society annual conference, Beckett and Justice, which was held in Los Angeles in the Summer, and there is also a range of performance reviews from around the world. News of the ambitious revamp of the Society’s publication is accompanied by a look at the history of The Beckett Circle since its debut in 1978.
