As part of the Samuel Beckett: The German Room exhibition currently ongoing at the University of Regensburg in Germany, a one-day conference will take place on January 19 2026 featuring contributions from a fascinating group of noted scholars and practitioners.

Taking part in the proceedings will be:

Dr. Georgina Nugent (University College Cork): Beckett’s Tender Narrators

Dr. Megan Girdwood (The University of Edinburgh): Dancing with Samuel Beckett

Dr. Feargal Whelan (Trinity College Dublin): ‘It’s the Lüneburg Heath you need’: Buried History in Beckett’s Landscapes

Dr. Sarah Jane Scaife (Trinity College Dublin): Beckett sa Chreig: Guth na mBan (Beckett on the Rock: The Voice of Women): an analysis of Beckett’s shorter plays for women in conversation with the language, landscape, and culture of Inis Oirr.

The lectures begin at 2pm and are preceded by an English-language guided tour of the city of Regensburg, and later there will also be a guided tour of the exhibition Samuel Beckett: The German Room. The full programme of events is available here. Registration is essential at this link before 11 January 2026.
